So we are cold here in Idaho. Just bought the truck 2 months ago and still learning about it. So am I just dumb or does this thing not have a cord to a block heater? Because I cant find one.

The block heater is an option (41H) unless the truck was built for delivery to one of these states where it is standard equipment.

Well then you should have one, as Idaho is on the list. Look behind the passenger driving light. It was a running joke among owners that the guys in Kentucky find new and creative places to hide the plug. You probably will need a flashlight.
If you can't find it then climb under the truck and feel above the starter. You should feel a large bolt (1 - 1.5 inch dia) with a wire coming out of it. If you do not feel a wire but feel three prongs then get a flash light and take a better look. If you truly do not see a cord then you don't have one. It can be purchased online and you can install it yourself. If you do need to install it yourself here are the instructions.

You may consider getting a appliance timer. Most run their heater for about 3 or 4 hours before they leave in the morning. If you are running it the whole night you don't really need too. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
When temps are 0 and below, I leave it plugged in all the time. Your engine has a block heater installed by the engine manufacturer, but the wiring harness might not be there. If not it can be bought at the dealership. I also put in the marinco plug to make it a little more convenient.

Usually doesn't get too cold down here on coastal Maryland but I do plug in the truck when the weather guesser says temps will drop below 40 overnight. I use a timer, heat on three hours before I leave for work. Not so much the engine needs the heat to start up, but after three hours of heater on, engine much quieter on startup. Not so noisy for the neighbors, and I get heat in less than 10 miles [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I don't really think you need to plug it in for 40 degrees? Maybe below 30 or 25. I plugged mine in when it got down to 15-20. I even left it unplugged a few times colder than that...no problem at all starting.

I'll bet you have one, it is just a pain in the arse to find... especially in the dark when it is zero degrees out. Look behind the tow hook on the passenger side in front of the vehicle. You will need flash light with pinpoint ability. It will be all black on black, and towards the middle of the truck on inside of that tow hook mount.

Before you bother digging in your grill. take a look just above the starter from under the passenger side of the motor. If you have a empty plug in that location? you don't have a cord at all!
Capt. Skup, we could be neighbors? I also plug mine in at or around 40 degrees and not because it needs to be. I believe it's a lot easier on everything, the oil is a little warmer as is all of the metal parts creating less wear. I feel better getting on the go pedal when I get out in traffic in the mornings becuase the guage has moved off the pin.
