Hi I just installed my block heater cord and was wondering how do I know if it's working? I pluged it in for about an 1 hr 20 mins and I didn't see much difference. Also on the plug into the block there is a small brass or copper piece that I didn't notice which way it was bent when I unpacked it. Is it suppose to be bent in between the 2 holes or bent to the outside. If you look at ebay #250056744353 the metal piece is bent out, does it matter because I bent it in between the 2 holes.

Go look at you power meter before you plug it in.

Look at the power meter after plugging it in.

If the meter is moving faster after you plug it in, its working.

The copper piece is to ensure a proper ground. By routing it between the two holes, you are getting very close to shorting it out to one of the hot leads. If it's working, you should be able to feel some heat near the heater on the block after an hour.

Thanks I changed it, pulled out the plug and put the copper piece to the outside and put electrical grease to make sure it gets good contact. Is it suppose to make noise when it's pluged in or is there anywhere that I can touch to see if it's working.

If it is really quiet, I can usually hear mine starting making some noise within a few seconds after plugging it in. You'll probably need to plug it in for at least 3 to 4 hours to get much benefit from it.

Put the car seat in the CENTER of the back seat.
A friend lost a child in a car seat on the passenger side of the back seat when they were hit.
