blows white smoke...

My buddys got a 05 6.0 and it blows white smoke at idle and even worse when you rev it up. What is the problem? I think it might be a blown head gasket leaking coolant into the cylinder? Its got 40k on it and its already blown one head gasket and it was replaced, so i thinking it might be the same problem.
thanks!

Re: blows white smoke...

What all has been done to the truck? Mods? Climate? How's it run?

Re: blows white smoke...

it had a chip in it (idk the brand) but it was taken out when the new head gasket was put in about 3k ago. Its got a 4" exhaust and 5" stacks and thats all the mods oo its got a 12" lift and 40" tires if that matters...that motors under a load rollin them around town! We live in Baton Rouge LA, so its hot and humid. I havent driven it since it started actin up, so idk how it drives. Im just trying to point the owner in the right direction.

Re: blows white smoke...

With whats been done to it, I'd take it to a local independant diesel tech, and have ARP headstuds intalled along with new gaskets on both sides. Maybe look at firerings.

Re: blows white smoke...

White smoke could just as easy be a blown ERG cooler.
