I am curious, how many of you actually break-in your new vehicle? Keep low RPM's no towing, etc. I think Ford recommends this period for the first 600 miles?
Eninges these days are made to very tight tolerances. Less play in them and maybe less seating that needs to go on. I understand that International nearly red lines them for a few min each before releasing them.
I would not hammer it to start and stay of the streets. I would put 100 miles or so on it at varying 40mph to 70mph speeds. After about 100 miles or so I would continue that and stomp on it much from 30 or 40 to some where ~70mph our what ever the max legal is.
Vary the speed. Dont keep it stedy at all.
Peace and Blessings

I put 1000 miles on mine, changing the oil filter at 300, changed the the oil and filter at 1000, then started using it trailering my Toy 4runner and generally just hammering it.
I take it easy on the way to work in the morning. In the afternoon, I baby it out of the Jetplex, take the left out of work, then it gets hammered.
Changing the oil early isn't goig to hurt anything, but the break-in and towing restriction is primarily for the diff., not the motor.
Drive it how you'll drive it from the git go. (except for the restrictions for the diff. )
