Hey guys Im in the market for a new truck. My question is the o6 6.0s have the problems worked out off them. Can I expect any problems with the EGR valve, turbo. rear main seal leaking, headgasket problems. Just a few off some problems I heard with the earlier 6.0s. The main question has Ford solved these issues or are people still having trouble with the new trucks. Is it the design off these motors, the way people drive,or lack off maintenace on the owners part that has caused most off the problems. I like to have a trouble free truck (who wouldnt) that would never see the inside off a dealers shop only for reg maintence. Thanks for your help guys.
I just bought an 06 6.0L and am very impressed with the power and how nice it rides. I haven't had any problems, but I do have just a little oil showing up on the BH. I doesn't drip, just builds up there a little. Maybe when you are at the dealer, take a look under each one. If you see the leak, don't get it. A lot of them do develope leaks, but I think the 6.0L is a lot nore reliable now than before, but it still has some problems. I would go for it!

YEA , what Mobeydick said. I have 1900 miles on mine now and it is a freakin ROCKET compared to the '94 I had. Great puller too. I will keep the truck pretty much stock as I believe alot of the guys problems start with trying to get more horsepower and tourqe w/ tuners and the like. Buy one and have fun. Despite what you read here, the guys with problem free trucks don't post that their truck is great. We just seem to hear from the ones who have problems 'cause the squeaky wheel makes the most noise.

Don't flame me, but why would you buy now knowing they are coming out with an all new truck for 07?

From what I have hear & read the 07 will not be new. Jan 07 will be the 08 model with new eng/body. Then what bugs will it have? I am in the wait or buy now mode.

I just turned over 6k on my truck. So far its been trouble free. As far as the BH leak goes, I guess alot of the people here spend a lot of time UNDER their trucks. I happened to be under there this past week (Installing Nerf Bars) and the BH on mine was dry. As far as power - what everybody else says - it goes ! The final thing is RIDE. My old PT Cruiser had a stiffer ride than my old K2500 - even after I installed the lift kit. As far as head problems, most are caused by increased turbo pressure. Get one and drive it like you stole it.
I just broke 5,000 miles on my new 2006 psd and have not have 1 issue yet. rides great, pulls great and looks good
Only problem I have is Iam always looking for a reason to drive it and pull something with it LOL

I think the '05 and newer is a very solid truck. I have a '04 and have only had the EBT sensor go bad.
The people buying the new powertrain are going to be guinea pigs for Ford, just like the buyers of early 6.0's. Given Fords post 7.3 track record, I wouldn't buy the new truck until at least two production years have lapsed -- Which is about when I'll be due for another truck!
I have an 04 with 35K miles. I bought it in Nov 03. My father in law bought his 04 in Jan of 04, he has had some probs with his, but he has over 375K on his. My father bought his Aug 04 and he has 10K on it. I just bought another one, 06 with 120 miles on it now. With the exception of my father in law's truck, no problems for any of the other trucks. My father in law is going to buy another one in 08 because he wants the new motor. That is how great the trucks are.
I have 3900 miles on mine with no problems. I think it rides rougher than my 00 F350 long box I had, but it may be that the truck I have now is a shortbox with the 20's on it.
