As you can see by the posts on the forum. Ford still hasn't worked out the problems. Fixed some, created others.

2006 6.0 Replacement truck Problem list.
Too extensive to list.
Days in shop so far 71 and counting as they still have it.
34K miles.
After spending a month in the shop and having it back only 2 weeks, it's back in the shop. Ford Customer service refused to send me a DSB Package. Told me the info is in the back of manual. Well truck is in shop and I don't have the info can you give it to me? No, it's in the manual.
My father in law bought his 04 in Jan of 04, he has had some probs with his, but he has over 375K on his. Is that a typo? 375 in just over two years? WOW! I wanna hear about your 379, whats it got?

Manufacture thousands of any product and issue can be created, during any product run vendor changes mid-stream, engineering changes, and recalls all make things interesting. There far too many 6.0s on the road for them all to be defective.
Bought a late "03" that was dead at 13,600, replaced by FMC with a late "04", running great at 32,000 miles. I have experienced EGR issues, all replaced, and the most significant problem was the Shift Module, trucks has never let me down, and I am pleased in the overall.
The most significant issue I have experienced, "03", and those that I have read about are the electronic sub systems, BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERING EVERYTHING, 3800.00. The diesel comes with a 100,000 mile warranty on mechanical, but does not cover all sub systems, loaner vehicle, or all towing charges.
"04" F350 XLT/Sport / Crew Cab/ Dually/ True Blue
"06" F250 XLT/ Chrome Package/ Crew Cab/ SRW/ Toredor Red
Lov'in them both!!!!!
Had problems with late 03 build 2004. Traded her in on 7.3. The 6.0 was quicker and smoother, MPG's about the same. More good ones out there than bad. Good luck and don't mess up the warranty till you decide for yourself if its a good one!
tonhalf,
Dealerships take tradeins every day.If you can't live with it why don't you trade it?
My 06' runs like a cat and put's a smile on my face almost every time I fire it up.

Not a typo. He has over 375 thousand miles on an 04. He has replaced one trans(ZF6), 13 injectors(none in over 200K because he uses Delphi fuel additive), head gaskets(dealer mis-diagnosed his coolant leak, mad about that one), never replaced the brakes! He uses it to haul new travel trailers to the dealers. So half his miles are towing. Not bad. He has several add ons like: Gulf coast bypass filter, centramatics, Edge(he is way out of warranty, so the added fuel mileage helps the pocket book.) He is waiting for a 6.4 powerstroke and he will replace this one.
The Pete was an 01(550 cat, 13 spd, 3:36 rears, americlass. Smooth and quiet.), and I had it for a little while. Then the company went out of business, and so I have no idea where it is now. It had about 400K on it when I stopped driving it. One of the best trucks I have ever driven, and it was the best company I have ever driven for.
The sad part is that I would lose my shirt. The other is that I have the exact truck but a 1935 Ford ton 1/2 dump show truck. That is what I have this truck to pull it and the 28 foot featherlight it lives in. I also have a 28 model a, 36 dump, and 39 rack and 03 E350 7.3 diesel. All Fords.

yeah that deffinately is sad, you take a huge hit when you try to unload one of these trucks, especially if you are the original owner.
