I have a question concerning this post. I drove my friends 6.0 and his was a dog off the line. My 7.3 will litterally burn circles around his. We tried every kind of launch and it will not break the tires free. You can hold the brake and WOT and it just sits there. Once you let off the brake, it starts going but really picks up after the first 30ft or so. I was expecting a little more wow. If you step on it from a dead stop with no brake, its like "yawn" for the first couple of seconds. It has plenty of power while driving, but it definitely has no get up and go. Is this normal or is he having some sort of problem. It is a stock 05. From the previous post, it sounds like a stock 6 has no problem lighting them up.

Unfortunately my 06 is like that as well.

Another technician I work with was on a road test with a scan tool and was watching some PID's at a red light. He torqued it up, staring intently at the screen the whole time. All of the sudden, he notices smoke just flooding into the passenger compartment. Turns out, he had the A/C on and the windows up, and the smoke was being pulled in through the fresh air inlet. The source? The dual rear tires just spinning away. It was so smooth, he didn't feel it. And since the blower was on high, he didn't hear it either.
The funny part was trying to explain it to the sheriff who was waiting in line behind him....
Next time, I'll tell you about the infamous Lightning test drive. The vehicle was in for an oil change, and wasn't marked as a waiter. The tech (same one) took it for a spin around the block. Later, the owner was livid, asking why he had 9 additional miles on his truck. The tech was called in, and asked about the 9 miles. He replied, "sure the rear tires turned 9 miles, but the fronts only turned 4."
