Cat Plug

Over time and miles, are the cats going to plug up causing high egt and poor performance? It seems a poorly designed EGR system may add to the problem. If so will Ford step up for replacement? Anyone with fairly high mileage run into this problem?

Re: Cat Plug

Well, I can answer one question with some confidence.

"If so will Ford step up for replacement?"

Only if it's under warranty, and them, maybe.........

Re: Cat Plug

IIRC, here in CA, the mfg is responsible for the mandated emissions systems for 100k... If that is correct, then Ford will be required to step up.

Re: Cat Plug

Looks like 5 years or 50k under the Emissions Defect clause of the warranty (over 8500 GVWR)

Re: Cat Plug

We replaced a lot of cats this past winter.... Now that the warm weather is here, extended idling and wet stacking aren't such a concern. Cats will be covered under any emission controls warranty.

Re: Cat Plug

This is good to know as it would seem that soot and cat converters probably don't work well together. Thanks for input.
