Change Thermostat?

Well, the temp guage is not going up after I drive for 10-15 miles.

Dealer said it could be the oil cooler? He asked me to check the antifreeze level. It was OK.

He tells me he's never had to change the thermostat on a 6.0 but estimated $200 to do it.

Is this something I can do myself? I am pretty handy with tools.

Oh, buy the way, my heater in the truck isn't putting out like it should either.

Re: Change Thermostat?

$200 seems pretty steep seeing how the thermostat is easy to get to. the thermostat cost me $30 at the dealership.

Re: Change Thermostat?

Changing the thermostat is relatively easy, but I had to remove one fuel line and one of the bolts could only be turned about 1/16th of a turn at a time...I did it and the belts at the same time. Shroud removal is no problem at all. Regards,

Re: Change Thermostat?

Hey All,

It was the thermostat after all! I did have to pay the $100 deductable, but, it was well worth it to save my Saturday!
