Changed fuel filters today

Swapped out both fuel filters today. 36mm for the frame filter and 24mm for the engine mounted filter. Used Wix kit # 33559 $37.25 purchased from http://www.filter1.com/ . Drained the HCFM (6mm allen) removed and replaced filter, replaced O-ring reinstalled cap torqued to 25 fig newtons and done deal. Used 24mm socket for engine filter, removed and replaced filter, replaced O-ring and reinstalled cap, torqued to whatever fig newtons the cap said and boom! done deal.
I had paid the dealer to do this at 15,000 miles and I think it was a fair bit over $100. So this time I thought I would do it at 30,000 miles. Glad I did it only took about 20min. total time and saved some money . Plus it gave me a reason to check every thing out under the truck and all looks well . Just thought I'd share. Mike

Re: Changed fuel filters today

Routine maintenance on the 6.0 is very easy, the easiest of any car/truck I have ever owned. And once you find Filter1 for your filters, the cost is very reasonable. I now change the inline transmission filter every other oil change because it is so easy and the filter is inexpensive at Filter1. Draining the fuel with the 6mm wrench is the secret to making filter replacement much easier and less soaking. I sure love my truck.

And most importantly, you know it got done right. I enjoy doing the regular maintance on my PSD, glad you had a good experience also.

Ya, it's not that bad, it's not that expensive, but no one will get near you for 2 days while the diesel smell fades. Greta way to get some "me" time! LOL

Re: Changed fuel filters today

help,

I have no problems changing the 2 fuel and air filters on my 03 6.0, but where is the in-line trans filter? Is there any other filters that i need to change?

Re: Changed fuel filters today

The tranny filter is forward, slightly right of center and just behind the radiator down low. Its in a cast housing and it looks like this http://community.webshots.com/photo/...68087900AkpjEx The bright over exposed thing with wrench flats on it.
Two fuel filters, oil filter, an air filter, and the external tranny and you've covered your bases . Hope this helped
