Cyclops is good BUT COSTLY --but I have a "hidden switch" (CHEAP!)that shuts off the power to the fuel pump--sure they could pull it up on a truck hauler but they aint gonna DRIVE IT AWAY--

There are alot of options out there as far as alarms are concerned. The vast majority of which are owned by DEI. All the DEI alarms are basically the same according to the functions you desire, they just go under different names, i.e., Viper, Hornet, Stinger, Clifford, etc. You can go to www.directed.com for more info. Most alarms will come with a tilt sensor that is adjustable for sensitivity and a kill switch. With DEI you have to buy extra tilt sensors, glass break sensors, etc., if you want those things.
On my last truck I had a Viper remote start alarm with the 2-way LCD pager. I liked the remote start feature, which was programable for diesels for the wait to start function. It also came with a feature for turbo cool down. I could turn the ignition off, take my key out, leave, arm and lock the truck and it will continue to run for as long as I had it programed to run to let the turbo cool down.
What I would recommend more than a DEI alarm is an alarm from Compustar. It has all these same features and more. It already comes with the glass break sensor and other things that DEI's cost extra for. And if you want the 2-way paging feature so you can be alerted if some one is messing with your truck, it has a much longer range than that of a DEI. DEI's range is up to 1/4 mile. Compustar is up to 6000 ft (over a mile). Go to www.compustar.com.
Anyway, by the time you buy a kill switch and one of those seperate devices for keeping your engine running to cool down the turbo, after you leave, you could have a complete all in one system. --just my 2 cents.
OR, I really like the advice from Scot06.
I agree with the alarm...or a real pit viper(BLACK MAMBA). Better train him real good or your gonna lose.

i put them on our truck right after getting it, but i remember reading that you also needed to do something else while you were in there putting them in but i can't remember. i don't know if they still sell them, but they were not that much and easy to put in. other than that though, we have no other protection method, but we have thought about it!

47k miles on it (close to it at least)
husky liners for front and rear
rhino lined bed
30k gooseneck hitch installed
jimmi jammers for the doors
vent visors for cc, bug guard up front
ford stainless grille
tinting front windows to match back(coming soon)
dppi catback exhaust
also need a lift
The JimmiJammers are good. I have not yet installed them on my '06, but I did have them on my '02. The thing to do with them is to add on a hose clamp on the lock cyl. They used to not come with them, but now they do. Without the hose clamp the are useless, as the metal plate is easily pushed out of the way. I think they're $25-30 for a set of two.
I am glad someone posted something about this on this web site. Keeps myself from feeling dumb. I am fixing to go on a long distance run and was wondering if there was a fuse I could pull that would disable the truck from starting. If someone was trying to take the truck they would not be trying to fiqure out what fuse was not there. I already had two trucks stollen, one out of the drive and another while at rest area on interstate.

Ok, here's a dumb question: How good is my old "Truck Club"? I heard one guy say on another site that they can be defeated in 5 seconds. I guess a pro could with the proper tools, but what about the 17YO joy rider? I'm using my old one now and I got it for my first truck 19 years ago (yikes!). Is this a waste of time? I think a pro is going to get it if they want it, and that's what insurance is for, but what about wanna-be's?

So does no one use one of these Club's anymore? Am I so old that this is really a dumb question? I hope it will at least discourage the usual joyrider. Any other experiences out there?

I personally use the old faithful .44 mag smith. But when I'm not around the truck I'd like to put a switch in the wire from the brake pedal. Does anyone know the color?? I haven't looked maybe it's obvious.

Hi, what is the cheapest way to theft proof a 6.0? I'm not worried about serious thieve, just joyriders. I haven't even heard of someone getting their car stolen around here.
I just don't want someone taking my truck and running the egts up to 1600 and then I could get a recovered truck with no exterier damage and severe internal engine damage.
Anyway, where can I put a kill switch or something?
Thanks,
Dan.

The cheapest way to theft proof is trade me trucks...........believe me no one wants to steel this 03. I have left it running while going into stores, getting gas and taking a leak, leaving it with the keys in it at baseball/football games, left key in it at boat launches for 3 days. Are the crooks smart, don't want to steel an 03????
