check engine light

05 f 250 6.0 diesel. Drove my truck this morning to the gym and when i came out and fired it up, the check engine light stayed on. I recently changed the oil and fuel filters. I used motorcraft oil filter and Rotella 5W-40 Synthetic and the fuel filters were both Racor but the truck was running fine before and after that so I am at a loss. I drove it home and it seemed to be running fine. The last thing I want is to have to go to the ripoff dealer! Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks

My CEL came on and I didn't notice any ill effects either. When I got around to taking it in (dealer), the turbo was the cause and it was replaced (rust and corrosion). You will need to have someone pull the code(s) if you can't do it yourself. If you post the code(s) here, one or more of the helpful guys on this forum will point you in the right direction.

Codes

Advance auto's computer said it is PO 672 Glow Plug/Heater Cylinder 2. I then went to auto zone and there;s said the exact same thing. My truck is still under warranty, does anyone know if glow plugs are covered? I would think so-they are part of the motor...

Glow plugs are covered under the diesel engine and emissions warranties. Chances are the module has gone south.
