Code P2099 or P0299???

Check engine light went on while cruising down the expressway @ 75 MPH. The truck runs fine, no noticeable differences. I brought it in to the dealership, they scanned it and got the code "P2099". He told me the code said "under boost on turbo", and that they have never seen this one before. He gave me temp readings of -4 and one of 188?? I have no idea what these were read from. They cleared the code, started the truck back up and within 2 mins of it running the light came back on. It has been really cold here lately (-10), and the truck has been plugged in.

What should I do next??

Re: Code P2099???

My scanner says that code is "Post Catalyst Fuel Trim Too Rich Bank 2"
Maybe it is different for the ford scanner but I would not think so.

Re: Code P2099 or P0299???

The P2099 doesn't exist on a 6.0 so I would think the code must be a P0299. I would highly doubt any Ford dealer that works on the 6.0s hasn't seen this code. Most likely a sticking VGT turbo.

Re: Code P2099 or P0299???

Most likely it's the turbo vanes sticking however it could be the exhaust gas backpressure sensor. I had the P0299 (turbo boost) code on my '06 at about 21,000 miles. The dealer first replaced the EGBP sensor and cleared the code which came back on the next day so the next trip to the dealer they replaced the turbo. 1500 miles later no check engine light and running fine.

I am just about where you were on mileage with my 06' when this happened. I will be taking it back to the dealer today with this info in hand.
