Cold Air Intake

Question for you all....

I have a late 06 and I was looking under the hood this weeked and noticed the intake sits righ behind a big metal or plastic shield (I think it's a bracket for the radiator or something). I'm thinking about drilling a few big holes in that shield so the intake can grab cold air from the front of the truck; much like the ram air set up I had on my 7.3. Has anybody else tried this? Woudl there be any benefit on the 6.0 (like there was on my 7.3)?

Also, how the hell does that front grill come off?

Thanks

Craig

Craig,

What you describe is the Zoodad mod (named after a board member). I did it to mine. The only thing I've noticed, after doing it, was a bit of a quicker spool-up on the turbo, but it is a very negligent increase. If you do it, make sure you put a mesh screen over the hole, to reduce the bugs committing suicide in your air cleaner.

The grill on my '04 comes off with phillips screws on top and a good yank.
