Considering 06 - 6.0 Job2 - would Sell 02 7.3L - Thoughts?

All,

I have an X plan Pin, and with current rebates, I am looking hard at a 06 6.0 built Job 2, [after Jan 1 06].

Looking for comments from those with later build 06's related to issues, or lack thereof....

My 02 7.3L has 86K, only issues a CPS and a Turbo [all stock except Ford AIS intake and 4" turbo back exhaust] very little problems with this truck.

Dollar wise I am looking at about 15K to upscope to a Lariat 4WD CC 250 from a F350 XLT CC. Same payload etc.

Thoughts and comments welcome....

Thanks, CH

Go for it! I'm in the same boat as you only with an '02 SC with 64K wanting to move up to a Lariat CC. I may go with an '07 though. The difference in depreciation in 4 years will probably make up for the difference in rebates.

Three words of advice: DO IT NOW. Or pay a high price next year.

I traded my 02 last Nov. It was a very reliable and economical vehicle; 115K miles and only a drag link to repair.

I got an '06. So far, with 26,000 miles, it has not been back to the dealer. Have had an Edge Platinium in it since 1,300 miles.

Next year, a diesel truck WILL BE VERY EXPENSIVE due to the new emissions controls. Also, there will be lots of "blocks" installed in the PCM to prevent the modifications that we now do very easily.

I just sold my 04 truck. I moved up to a 06 at a good deal. I am x-plan also. Picked up an 06 xlt sport s/c longbed 4wd for 35k. I like the 06 much better.

The 06 will probably serve you well. I believe any pre 2008 truck is fixing to get a boost in nada/kbb/whatever value. If you can swing it sell the 02 private party. Look at the regional change in price. Any low mile 02 with a clean OASIS and title history is worth a bundle to the right informed buyer. Good luck!

All, Thanks alot for the input. I agree, the next year[s] of diesels will go through the same issues we saw with gassers in the late 80's getting emissions technology ironed out.

You are right about the 02 7.3L I've talked to 2 sales guys who are telling me they can't keep clean CC low mileage 7.3L's on the lot for more than a day.
