Coolant level in degas bottle question.
I noticed when pulling my trailer that when hot (left the truck running while refueling and opened hood) the level in the degas bottle was lower by 2" or so. Bottle filled to minimum level when cold.
When the truck cooled down, the level came back to the previous (cool) level. Is this normal?
I would loosen the cap carefully and the level would come back up.
I thought the level in the bottle would rise when hot?
I have a sightglass on my coolant filter and noticed the coolant flow stopped and had a bubble of air in it. When I loosened the cap, flow resumed too.
I bought the upgraded degas bottle cap at the dealer yesterday.
Faulty cap?
When the truck is unloaded and hot, I have never noticed this.
