Could use some help on a problems after engine install
I was hoping someone had some ideas for me. I bought an 04 6.0 with 290k that was putting oil in the coolant. Great price, so I bought it for a project / test mule. Here's what I have done so far. I pulled the engine. Installed new bearings, new oil cooler, new head gaskets, headstuds, egr block off. Reinstalled engine and can't get it to start. I think I have two or three problems. The scanner is showing low icp, so I am assuming I may have ruined an oring somewhere during assembly which isn't bothering me too much. The problem I need help with is that niether the cam sensor nor the crank sensor will show rpms. The coolant and oil sensors are reading high input codes. There is no smoke or even a hint of firing. The truck did start and run no problem before.
Doesn't anyone have any ideas? Batteries are up and on the charger during cranking 13+ volts. Rechecked connections on both sensors and at the pcm. This truck is starting to make me crazy.
thats a pretty big can of worms you got opend up here. ive seen people lay the engine on the ground with the oil pan off and bend the crank trigger wheel. are you sure the cam is timmed properly? check connections at the ficm and pcm and all the grounds. if it ran before its got to be something you did of left loose.

I got it. It was the pcm connection. I blew it out with air and then used contact cleaner. No codes, and it's sitting running here in the shop right now. Kind of odd, I cleaned it last night because I was suspicious of that connection. Oh well, it's running now.

Thanks.
nothing like the SWEET SOUND OF SUCESS
Glad you got it..I know how frustrating it can get. But you get this "feeling" of euphoria when it goes your way. Congrats on the repairs, keep us posted.

Yep, nothing like the sound of the new engine running for the first time. I'm not sure if this will help anyone else, but I have found posting a problem I'm having helps me solve it even if no one replies. I usually will post at night and in the morning read the post like I never saw it before. Something always pops out at me that usually solves my problem.
