Cruise Control Sticking????

Cruise control is not working properly. Today I turned it on while on the Parkway, then when to shut it off by braking so I would not his the car and found myself braking harder and harder.

It did not shut off when I hit brake and accually tryed to speed up. But after a few seconds of pushing brake it will go off.

What the heck is going on with it? Anyone else have problems with that?

I ran 2 power cables up the passengerside rocker channel and behind the pass. kickplate. Is there anything related to the cruise control in those locations that I could have interfered with it. Don't remember or think I hit anything.

Also got trans. recall done about 4 days prior to this, and don't think I have used cruise since then. Could that have affected it? Where should I look to see if any wires are lose for cruise?

Check to be sure your brake lights are working.

Re: Cruise Control Sticking????

Mine was doing same thing. It was intermittant and took spells of working or not working. Brake lights were working just fine.

Mine was so bad that I could gradually push the brakes and it would start to downshift before finally disengaging the cruise.

The brake (pedal) switch has a circuit that normally will disengage the cruise; if it fails there is a pressure switch on the master cylinder that will disengage the cruise. (remember those switches on the F-150's that were recalled for causing fires!) What is probably happening is your brake switch (on the brake pedal) is faulty; that is what was my problem. I'm glad Ford has the pressure switch as a back-up. Mine was fixed under warranty back in February.

Good luck with your problem.

Bob

Re: Cruise Control Sticking????

Ok, I accidently pulled a hose off under dash pass. side. Air came out and I heard a popping sound. Sounded like somthing with a Heating/AC like when you switch the vents.

Was this what I did, or is that involved with the cruise control?
