Re: Dealer says 30K trans service requires flush w/ no filter??

[ QUOTE ]
I acknowledge that a drain and refill is not equivalent to a true flush, but the scheduled maintenance does not require a flush only a drain and refill.

[/ QUOTE ]
The only reference to changing the transmission oil I can find says to “change automatic transmission fluid and external filter element”. To me this could be interpreted as either requiring a flush or just draining the oil. Can someone tell me where I might find a more detailed explanation of this service. My truck requires it to be done now and I want as much information as possible before talking to the service writer.

Wow, those are some good prices on a flush. In the Tampabay area, the cheapest 'Dealer' price for a flush only, was $175. Add the external filter and you are north of $210.

Man, $120, something is wrong with that picture.

I will bet dollars to donuts that he didn't get the Mercron SP for $120.00

If anybody goes to a quick lube place for tranny flush on a 6.0 .
Make sure the bottle is Motorcraft Mercron SP .
This is the only one that makes it and is a dealer item.

Will Mercron V hurt the torque shift ?? I don't know but I bet alot of people will be finding out soon.

Re: Dealer says 30K trans service requires flush w/ no filter??

I talked to my dealer yesterday about having the oil changed and just about choked when he gave me the price. Here in Canada they want $300 plus taxes to do a complete flush and change the external filter. They are charging $10 a litre for the oil. Sure hope I can find a better price somewhere.
