I just started with a problem, when I put the truck in reverse there is a 2-3 second delay before I feel anything happen. When it goes into gear there is a slight thump then a brief pause then another thump, then reverse as normal. On the road, the truck drives like normal.
Slowing down for a stop light feels weird like something is still pushing the truck, I get another two thumps as I come to a complete stop, then the truck is normal. Drive away from the stoplight and the truck is fine.
This just started and happens only when slowing down to make a stop or going into reverse.
I had the reverse planetary recall done a while ago and at the same time the shift solenoids were changed, does this sound like a sticking solenoid or something bigger?
Yes it does sound alot like a shift solenoid. Just curious, but was there a metal making issue when the reverse planetary assy was replaced on recall? I remember a few that have had issues because the system was not completely cleaned after the reverse planetary failed or was on the verge of failure.

If there was no problem with the reverse planetary at recall, why did they replace the shift solenoids? Did they install a second inline filter when they did the recall, which they were supposed to if there was any issues? I would pull the external filter and check it for contamination.

I honestly have no idea why they were changed. I called to get an update and they told me it was back together but when they went for a test drive they said they found a bad solenoid. Since I had driven the truck to them and had no prior issues I found it to be odd, but did not push the issue.
As for the second inline filter, nope! I followed the lines to the external filter and found no added filter.
Nummit, This seems to be a two way conversation?
I would still suggest pulling the external filter to find out whether you have a mechanical breakdown and contamination problem or just an electrical problem. You may have to take it in to be checked. Hopefully its still under warrenty.
