Drivers side battery cover
Under the heading an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure - The driver's side battery (electrical connector shield - i think) cover is designed so that battery servicing means shield must be removed to gain acccess to cell caps. To do that, battery terminal clamps must be be disconnected. This is a potentially bad thing because battery disconnection to facillitate electrolyte service is not a requirement for most vehicles. Furthermore, terminal fittings are' not designed for frequent disconnection over the life of the battery. Another turkey idea from some designer not caught before design approval. Design approvers should actually visit the mfg floor once in a while & look around. A few minutes with a dremel tool fixed that, & now I can service batt without removing the cover. BTW, battery eye was red from a bad cell, due, no doubt, to low electrolyte level. Truck is @ dealer getting a new batt today.
Will be performing fine tooth comb inspection & rectify any cable (chafe) gripes in engine / pass compt & undercarrige this w/e. There are usually a few if unchecked, will result in trouble later down the road.
