egr delete/ check engine light???

I have a 06 PSD and I just did an egr delete and head studs. But, the check engine light keeps comming on? I am assuming because of the fact that I deleted the egr. How can I get the light to turn off? It is driving me crazy! I don't care if the light never lights up anymore. Is there a wire I can cut or something!?!?!?

.. I just learned to deal with it. I assume you could take the dash apart and remove the bulb, might do that when I replace my stereo. Most 05+ trucks will throw a check engine light with a delete kit. I'm not going to pay $$$ for a programmer just to get the check engine light to shut off.

me too, wish I knew about the delete throwing CEL, my installer said the EX should not have but now I'm stuck with it as well. Not buying a controller!Go with the bullet proof I would have.

why don't you just plug the egr in and leave it there?

not very aesthetically pleasing but the light will go away

I have not done this... But what about measuring resistance on the egr and placing a resistor inline to make the computer think its there

The light won't go away on all trucks. Some 2005s and most 2006 and 2007s the light stays on. You need a tuner to turn it off. Also, some trucks go in to "EPA limp mode".
I got an SCT to disable the EGR function. I wasn't prepared to get a tuner either, but in the limp mode the engine has less power and only about 21 psi of boost. A tuner can make the truck quit looking for EGR and not produce extra hp. I got a no extra hp tune, a towing tune and mild street tune since I do not have studs (yet).
One more thing, a tech on another site found out that even with the tune, if you leave the EGR valve unplugged, the fan clutch will not engage 100%.

Why won't it work? The only reason the light comes on is because it does not recieve the valve position. The computer has no idea there is no manifold in the truck.

You cannot just put a resistor in the plug because the resistance varies with the valve position. The PCM sends a duty cycle to the valve and it opens to that position. The resistiance for that position is then measured to make sure it moved to the right position

I don't think that's true. The P0401 code is EGR insufficient flow. I THINK the computer needs to differences in IAT temp etc. If it doesn't, it throws the code.
I am by no means an expert in any of this, just stating me experience.
With the valve installed and not tuned, I get the code (and limp mode).
