EGR Valve

Can someone tell me where the EGR valve is? Anyone have a picture of where it is on the engine. I read about cleaning it; how do you get it out. Re: EGR Valve

Front of the engine just to the left (I think) of the oil filter. I don't have the link...........but I might........

http://dan.prxy.org/Truck/6L_bible_html/html/TOC.html

That's the 6.0 Bible. I think if you wade through there you'll find the EGR. I'm sure some other guys have direct links w/pic's.

Removal?? Hmm. A few schools on this, one method I used and so have others is to twist it off center in the housing to expose the bolt hole ears, get some heavier gauge wire, thread it through the ears and slowly rock it out of the housing.

If it's your original EGR I would suggest replacing it. I've heard the new ones are updated. I got one of the new ones a few weeks back and the truck hasn't been happier. I tried cleaning the old one and it didn't change a thing. IMHO.

Hope this helps.

Re: EGR Valve

Take a look here, EGR Valve for some usefull info, that might help. I have pulled mine a couple times, using some large channell locks and cleaned it. It was pretty nasty both times.
