Engine Block Heater Cord Install

I just got my new truck last weekend. I had to order it. F-350 Lariat Crew Cab 6.0 with 6-spd manual. One of the options I don't remember going through with the Sales guy was the Engine Block heater so I asked him about it. He mentioned that the option says that it isn't available in some states. Anyways he said that he thought the heater element it's self was there but the cord wasn't so I got the cord. I am fairly mechanically inclined so i figured I would put it in my self. However I can't seem to find the location the that red end of the cord plugs in to. Does any one know where this is? I did see a bronze looking plug above the rear soft plug on the drivers side and thought maybe that was it. But I was a little nervous about taking the plug out of my new engine so I waited. If I dont' get any answers here I will just take it back to the dealer ship and have them install it.

Thanks ahead of time.

Look at the passenger's side of the engine above the starter. It is there. I promise.

Re: Engine Block Heater Cord Install

I don't know if I can be of much help but I'll try. I am just going through the same thing, but I haven't got my cord yet. The parts manager printed out a sheet for me that shows where it plugs in. It's on the right side of the motor all the way in the back. Looks to be high just under the valve cover. Sorry I'm not able to down load this for you. Let me know how you make out...I haven't even looked for it yet, but it looks to be in a bear of a spot.

Dave is correct, just it is above the starter not as high up as 89flt says though

Re: Engine Block Heater Cord Install

Thanks all for the info. I am going to try to install it this week. I was looking on the wrong side of the engine all along.

Thanks again,
Nick

Re: Engine Block Heater Cord Install

Hi Guys: I have a 05' Excursion and I bought the cord, I looked at my son 05' F250 but when I installed I have a few plugs too many, Actually I used 5 of the plugs attached to the cord. Because of the difference between the two, coils vs springs, it just do not fit any other way. Have I done it right??? It looks ok but somehow I feel I missed something somwhere
