Engine groan @ 2000 RPM????? - Diesel Forum

OK, I just bought my first diesel last week so this may be a real dumb question.

Between 1900 and 2100 RPM the sound of the engine changes drastically, it sounds like a groan. Once above 2100 the engine sounds just like any other diesel I've ever heard. It almost sounds like the air box is being pressurized and is rattling. Is this normal??

Do a serch on Drone that might be what your feeling and hearing .

I agree with fire, sounds like the "droan" we all get around that RPM. I would not worry about it unless the conditions change, get worse, etc.

Not worry about it? It's obviously ANNOYING. They have been trying to fix the drone since the 2003's and still can't.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just have to turn the radio up a little louder!
