just bought an 03 with a 6.0 and the previous owner stated that it runs rough when first started in the morning...runs for about 5 mins or so and smooths out..burns no oil and has zero blowby? took to ford and they replace a couple of injectors but it still does it..no engine light and they told him they didn't know what was wrong..any ideas

Re: engine miss when first started in the morning?

More than likely Its a scuffed injector plunger or weak inj coil making it missfire.I would take it back to a Dealership and let them look at it.The contribution test for checking these Inj must be run under a certain temp.So usually it will have to sit for a night.

I have had similar issues, does it smooth out when you throttle up to about 1200 RPM? That's what mine does, the dealer tech (a top notch guy) says the 03-04 engine does this normally, Ford says it's something in the design of the heads, and they are not gonna fix it, they say to plug in the block heater for 30 min before start up. This does work. I also got an AIC, I just hit the idle up to 1200, she smoothes right out.

Re: engine miss when first started in the morning?

Just had mine in for this problem and dealer installed 5 new injectors. Runs fine now. I tried to talk them into all 8 but no dice. Said computer test results go to Ford and no way to justify the other 3 if computer says they are OK.
