Hello,
Just want to make sure this is normal, When I'm cruising on the highway and take my foot of the gas the engine goes quiet until I put my foot on the break or until I give it more gas. I mean you cant here a thing, is this normal? Very happy with my truck and no problem unless this is a problem. Truck has 580 miles on it.
Thank you and take care
Eddie

It is acting perfectly normal. I too wondered the same thing when mine did it, so I inquired. My understanding is that fuel is cut-off as you are slowing down, which essentially turns it into a big air pump. When the RPMs get low enough, or the computer "sees" the go-pedal being depressed, it again adds fuel to the mix. I don't know why they do this, maybe someone else might. Take care!!!
phew!! I am glad to here this is normal, thank you for replying! I love my truck!!!

It only makes sense, if you are off the peddle, and coasting, you don't need to be fueling the engine right? At the end of the day, you will have saved a thimble full of fuel. Every little bit counts.

Perfectly normal. Some people think that their engine has died, but look at the tach. It still shows RPM and the power steering and brakes still function. It's just quiet, that's all.

I think its cool when it does that.
Makes it even better to get someone in the truck who has never been in one before and let it do it and then laugh at the look on their face when the think they're walking home!
