Re: engine won't turn over

Put ratchet and socket on dampner bolt and see if you can turn it over by hand. If you cant turn it over by hand...ya got problems.

Re: engine won't turn over

Has it got a factory alarm? That'll kill the starter circuit... eh, I found out the hard way. Also take a look at the starter relay to see if it's been swapped out with a cyclops.

Re: engine won't turn over

Is it your truck? If so then force them to fix it, demand they use a power stroke certified mechanic. This is why you have insurance!

Is it a truck you are buying from the insurance company? If so get it for the cost of scrap i.e. subtract something for the cost of a new engine.

Since you say the starter is ok they need to pull the glow plugs (incase it is hydrolocked) and see if it spins, if it doesn't then it is effectively seized and something internal is broken. If it is hydrolocked then you need to know what the fluid is, if fuel then bad injector, if coolant then bad gasket, head or cracked block.

Good luck,
mark

i disagree with u, if ur not able to turn it over id say there are some problems, these semis going down the road arnt that hard to bar over by hand when doing valve adjustments. they have more compression then our 6.0
