2003 F-550 150,000 miles everything is stock. My speedometer started going crazy today after going down a rough road. The truck started to idle rough and would jerk on the highway. The rpms wouldnt change but the truck felt like it was trying to downshift or change gears . One dealer earlier this summer said the speed sensor was going , so I figured thats what it was . I changed it tonight and its still doing it though not as bad. Any Ideas?
Mine does the same thing. Iv posted here weeks ago about it, and no one knows anything about this. The dealer says it runs perfect, they cant replicate. Does yours loose half power when it does the speedo sh!t? Mine acts like Im riding the brakes while driving. No power then it will just work again.

Mine will buck or jump like its trying to change gears or something. If I put the cruise control on the engine will sputter or jerk a little. It probably would act like its losing power , once it started doing it I just babied it home. I was scared of a large towing bill.

If the speedos off the tranny gets lost and doesnt know when to shift.
The only thing thats made mine stop or at least do it less, was to back in and out all ground wires bolts I could find, engine and inside cab. I also wiggled all the fuses and plugs around the fuse box area. It must be a bad connection somewhere.
I also put a new speed sensor in the diff, but that did nothing.

I ziptied the speed sensor and the pigtail together and checked all the wiring in the rear end and along the frame, still had an eratic speedo. I then just shook the wires under the hood behind the dash and the problem has gone away. so something is rubbing somewhere.
