Farts & Smoke...

Hey guys,
My truck has been having the turbo farts a little bit lately. It just started doing it maybe a week or so ago. It sounds like the inner fender well is flapping loose along with dead pedal at the same time. Anyways, today getting on the freeway it started doing it alot and it started blowing out black smoke like I've never seen before! I mean ALOT of smoke! What's the deal with this? Does the farting hurt anything? I'm thinking I'll take it to the dealership on Monday and have them look at it. BTW, I have about 41,000 miles on it. Any thoughts on this? Thank you!
Scott

Re: Farts & Smoke...

if its doing it under power which is how i read your post it NEEDS TO BE serviced, chances are the dealership wont see the problem and it will take a while, you have to have the turbo replaced. what i did when i needed mine was put my empty 20' car hauler on and took off up a hill with my service manager, let the truck shift to OD at about 60-65 and it should cause it to act up. try it a few times before taking it in make sure you know how to do it so you dont look dumb any problems with the dealership or ?'s PM me and ill give you more info.

Re: Farts & Smoke...

Thanks for that. It didn't do it yesterday at all. In fact the last time it did it was on Saturday when it was blew all that black smoke. I wonder if maybe it cleared itself up. I'll run it in to the dealership this week & have them check it out.

Re: Farts & Smoke...

twotrack68 I see you have an 03. I had this problem sence it was reprogramed in march. I have the $0 deductable 7 years extened service plan. Now that I have run out of the 36/36 they want $85 just to hook it up to computer they said the $0 only pays if they have to change out parts. They told me that they changed the turbo straidgy and before I got home it did it again. I found some post on cleaning the IAT2 taking printout to dealer today.

Re: Farts & Smoke...

sounds like you are having a problem w/ a inj. or two trying to hang open. causing a overfueling concern. i had one one time that was having the same concern but it was a little worst. the told me his was doing this black smoke coming out drove it that way until we had to tow it in. one of the inj. nozzle finally gave way & cracked & was dumping fuel bad into that cyl.
