Exclamation The Force left me

Well folks - I got bit. My dependable 04 finally let me down. 64K I low #4 injector. Upon repair the FICM threw two codes showing it was bad. Dealer said it could have caused the injector to fail. Unfortunately I had to use the local dealer and not the one I trust 50 miles away as it was running so rough and vibrating heavily I just got it to the first place I could so I did not do damage $1550 bill - ouch.

What really fries me is they cut my boost tube (it was run along the back housing they had to remove to get to the FICM) to my gage and just put it back together with a short piece of rubber hose that will not hold. It would have taken him all of 2 minutes to unplug it correctly. What a pain as now I get to fix that.

Anyway maybe it not so bad as this is the first repair since we worked all the bug out during the first 6 months. Of course it happened just 3 month out of the extended warranty ford gave me back then.

Any theories as to why the FICM went bad? It's been reported here that low voltage from bad batteries/alternator is the primary culprit.

JW350 Hmmmmm You got me thinking on the low voltage. The bats are still origional now about 6 years old. They are showing signs of age now that it is getting cold again. They did get discharged on me a few months back - left the hood open.

Thanks for the tip - time to get a new set.
