Re: fuel additive
I only have first hand knowledge of Stanadyne and Power Service...specifically, PS grey bottle for my truck...white for my tractor.
The national diesel cetane rating average is 42/43. I have read in more than one publication that the 6.0 was designed for optimum performance at a minimum 46 cetane.
The additives I have mentioned have the capability to enhance low cetane value to the 46+ range.
When adding a quality fuel additive keep in mind that the cetane rating value to your diesel typically plateaus at 50.
Even though the 9 counties that make up the North Texas region are mandated to supply diesel at a 48 cetane rating(regional EPA issues), I add Power service at every fuel up for the following:
Cleaner injectors
Enhanced Lubricity
Water Dispersion
Cetane Enhancement
Since our weather is relatively mild in the winter I typically use the grey bottle year round in my truck.
