Fuel leak at secondary filter housing

I have a 2005 F350 6.0.
I have purchased the seal kit from Ford.
I want to repair this myself but I have no access to the manual.
Can anyone describe the pitfalls I may encounter in this repair?
Thanks.

To clarify, are you talking about the engine mounted filter (which is the secondary filter) or the HFCM on the frame rail (the actual primary filter)??

Ok.. You said you got the seal, so either you got the seal for the regulator or you got a new o-ring for the cap. Since the o-ring for the cap should be self explanatory, I will address the regulator seal..

To change that seal, remove the return line coming out of the cover. Once you have done that, there are 4 torx bolts that hold the cover on (T-27, I think). Take those out but keep one hand on the regulator cover while you do so because there is a spring behind it that will force it out and once all the bolts are out, it could fall out. Carefully remove the cover (I would take the spring and the brass cup the spring is in out, to be sure they don't fall into the engine valley). Remove and replace the old seal. Put the brass cup and spring back in, put the cover back over them and into place. Hold it against the fuel bowl and reinstall the 4 torx bolts. Get them tight but don't overtighten or you can crack the regulator housing or the fuel bowl. Reinstall the return line (again, tight but don't overtighten).

Thank you very much. I had a feeling some spring might come popping out and get lost leaving this shade tree mechanic stranded.

Do you have torque specs for these fasteners? I am ready to tighten things up.
