Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

So, what are you using to add to the ULSD to help with lubricity? And where is the best price to get it?

Thanks for your help!!!

Re: Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

Stanadyne just released a new formulation for ULSD. I've been using the old formula (which you can't get anymore) since day one. I just started using the new stuff a couple weeks ago. Don't know what the difference between to old and new, but I'll bet they had to take out and/or replace something so the new PM filter won't blow up.

I buy the 1/2-gallon jug from Diesel Injection Service for about $20 + shipping.

With a 6 - 8 week delivery, DIS should be able to deliver its winter formula by spring!

Re: Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

BlackSTX,

We stock all the Stanadyne products in 16 OZ and 1/2 gallon sizes. Call us if you have any questions. By the way the Performance formula and JR formula do have some lubricity properties and all their products are now ULSD formulated. Plus Stanadyne is OEM approved too, don't think any of the competition is?? If you buy some places you might still get some of the old non ULSD formula, FYI.

Re: Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

I buy Power Service in the big jug from WallyWorld(though the price for the big jug has risen recently, $4 more I think), gray or white bottle, not sure which color for cold weather. I have to read the bottle. Add the stuff every fill up, probably add too much, truck runs great, starts right up every time. Might start up and run just as well with the stuff, but if it helps an injector last longer, money well spent. Stuff sure stinks though, awful if it gets on your hands. I am sure the other brands work well, Power Service is sitting right there on the shell, short walk from the toilet paper aisle.

Re: Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

I use power service as well. White is for winter, grey for summer. Only difference I believe is an anti-gelling agent.

Does anyone know if power service will be refining their additive for USLD?

Re: Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

I also use Power Service. I use the white bottle year round. For me its just easier than switching back and forth, plus I get a better deal on the white bottle.

As far as I have been told Power Service products are already compliant with ULSD. There website confirms this.

Re: Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

First post, been reading for quite some time, decided to join up to chime in here.

When I first saw this thread I figured someone would bring up BioDiesel. Since I haven't been real happy with how ULSD runs in my truck, my plan was to keep a 5 gallon can in back of the truck, fill it with B99 and every time I have to fill up with ULSD add about a gallon of B99.

Hopefully at some point soon more stations around here will have the various blends and I won't have to go so far out of my way to get it.

Re: Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

+1 on more Biodiesel stations. I live in north Alabama and can only get BD in Chattanooga when we go to Tellico or Windrock. What a pain.

What makes it especially infuriating is that Alabama is fast becoming a BD producer, but not retailer of biodiesel.

Re: Fuel lubrication additives----- What are you using?

FYI, Stanadyne is made in CT.
And 1 more vote for it. Been using it since 9/00 and 0 problems or gel issues.
