fuel in motor oil?

Hello, this is my first post on this site there is alot of helpful info. on here. Anyways I purched a 6.0 in April it now has around 5500 miles on it. Yesterday I checked the oil and it was about 2 Qts. over full and smelled like diesel. The break in oil was changed at 3000 miles and replaced with Rotella T 15-40. I understand that this most is likeally an injector leaking. Has anyone else had this problem with the 6.0.
My other question is I installed a MBRP ehaust turbo back I have the cat in place but no muffler will ford void my warrenty or not work on my truck because of the aftermarket exhaust.

Re: fuel in motor oil?

depends on your dealer? hopefully you have a diesel tech that you know. Ford is getting really annoying with the excuses to drop warranties. Hope it works out for you, have them hook up the IDS and test the injectors

Re: fuel in motor oil?

Yes: They bought back my first truck because of this. You probabily have a bad injector. The early 03 had c-94 injectors witch were pron to have bad o rings. I don't know about 06's. I would not drive it(other than to the dealership). Play it save get it returned to stock first. ford is voiding warrenties left and right for modifications. They void it and the fight is on.

Re: fuel in motor oil?

Who changed the oil? If you did was 15 Qts put in? 15 Qts will show at the top or slightly above the top of the bulb on the dip stick. Also, I am not sure how you would accurately judge having 2 Qts to much with a 6.0 L dip stick. Also, remember that the truck must be on level ground or you will get an inaccurate reading.

Re: fuel in motor oil?

Ditto on how did you measure 2 quarts high, and how much was put back in. I've never put more than 13 qt's back in and that puts it in the upper end of the hash marks.

Next, where have you been? Search back in '03 and '04 on fuel in oil. Major issue with some '03 trucks. It's an automotive legend now.

Re: fuel in motor oil?

I changed the oil myself, I putt 14 qts. back in this putt the oil level about 3/4 of the way up betweem the lines. Now the oil is up on the wire. 2 qts. a guess it could be a little more or a little less.
Do you think it would be worth the work to change the ehaust and downpipe back to stock. Thanks for all your help!

Re: fuel in motor oil?

It would be humorous to see a dealer deny a warranty claim regarding fuel dumping into the crank case based on an exhaust system. If you were running it straight off the DP, they'd still put on quite the comedy act saying it was causing fuel dumping. And it does sound like an injector issue if indeed you checked the oil properly and it has indeed grown diesel fuel. I think it would be pretty obvious and it sounds like you have it pegged.

A dealer/Ford can't "void" a warranty. They "can" deny a warranty claim if they believe it's not something they are obligated to cover due to modification etc. etc.

If you were going in with drivability issues related to EGR, VGT, EP etc., an aftermarket exhaust that affects exhaust pressure would be more understandable, although quite the long shot on their part.

Re: fuel in motor oil?

Just to be sure there is fuel in your oil, draw a sample and send it in for a used oil analysis. I use Blackstone Labs, and there are several others that are good. That will give you the data to back up your claims and make it harder for Ford to ignore the concern.

My wife's 2004 regularly has 2% fuel in the oil. The dealer claims this is normal and within specifications. The oil level never goes above full, so I suspect the fuel is exactly replacing the oil consumed during operation.

Re: fuel in motor oil?

I just had an injector replaced a few months ago, didn't say anything about my exhaust or intake. But then my dealership knows that the exhaust didn't screw up the injector! My exhaust system "could" legitimately be voided..........but really there would be no need for warranty work on my OEM exhaust...there is nothing wrong with it....setting in my garage, it's like, like brand new!
