Fuel Pressure question

I am looking to do a fuel pressure test. My truck has loss of power upon start up and when climbing hills in some cases (does not happen all the time) It has been getting worse. Ford replaced the FICM...still did not do the trick. EGR was also replaced. I am thinking that the fuel pump might be going. Any ideas as to how I can do so without taking it to Ford for a $250 test. Do they sell fuel test guages for not an arm and a leg? I can get a fuel pump for under $300. Would it just be a smart idea to just replace it

05 F350 CC Long Box 87K stock

Any suggestions would be much appriciated.

There is a pressure test port on the upper fuel filter housing. You will need an adapter and a gauge to do the check.

Thanks HeavyAssault.....do I have to drop $200 on a basic kit or do they make a $40 dollar unit like they make for cars? Pep Boys here in NJ said they have one for $41. I am gunshy trusting that info...the kid looked not a day over 17 years old. Any suggestions for a guage? Do I need to test on the road or can I just start up and monitor the pressure while under the hood?

Keeping the line clear of any edges or rotating objects you should be able to use any gauge kit. It needs to read over 60PSI and DO NOT run a line of fuel into the cab.

If the truck is only acting up under heavy load then that's when you should be monitoring the fuel Psi . I use a Pressure Transducer from snapon that plugs into a graphing volt meter . This way no fuel lines are in the cab and Yes they are Very Expensive. I'm drawing a blank on the fuel psi spec but i think they shouldn't go under 48 psi under full load. Maybe someone can help us out here with a wide open throttle fuel psi spec . I think at idle its around 55 psi. Good Luck .

45-55psi is considered normal. It should never drop below 45psi, even at WOT...

I only have 40 psi on my gauge sometimes 42, any way to bump up the pressure without an FAss kit?

Agreed, 45 psi min. @ WOT driving the truck. Not in neutral sitting in the driveway.
