Question Gauge Trouble

I did a search and can not fine any info. on this problem that I'm having. Last week when I used my truck an 04 the "Check Gauge" light stayed on and the check engine light came on. As I drove the truck the trans. gauge did not move. I started the truck after making a stop the same thing happen with the gauge and lights. After about two miles the gauge started to work and the "Check Gauge" light went off. The next time I started the truck the engine light was off. I took the truck the the dealer at that time everything was ok. They said that the only reading they got was one from the fuel sending unit and could not fine anthing wrong. That was $139.05 later. Yesterday I drove the truck this time the Temp. gauge would not work for about the frist half hour. Has anybody had this problem, or can tell me what is going on???

Sounds like your dash instrument cluster is starting to have problems. Some guys have had their dash's replaced. The wiring may be shorting out. Not sure how much it'll cost to repair.

I'd start saveing for a set of real gauges, instead of the dash idiot lights.

I have had a similar problem for 2+ years with my truck except my gauges act different from yours: when I'm idling the engine, every once in a while the speedometer needle will
jump to 10 mph and settle down and the chime will go off (truck sitting still), otherwise there is no check engine light and the gauges still works. I finally had to disconnect the driver side seat belt wire harness (the open circuit disables the seat belt chime). I have taken it to a dealer to hook up the diagostic machinie to it a long time ago and they could not find the problem, so since it still runs normal and starts every time I will drive it until it die and have to replace the gauge cluster, for I imagine that the part and labor for a new gauge cluster will be pretty expensive, and hope this is not a common problem as these trucks get up in age.

I have a '06' 350 and the fuel gauge is starting to act up. I've went to fill it up from a 1/4 tank the other day, and the needle never moved. When I started putting miles on the gauge slowly went back to full. That's happenned like 3 times so far. Thinking it's the sending unit.

Just a suggestion but in some of the older models there were ground problems with the instrument cluster. It is nothing more than a large printed circuit board and probably is grounded in only one place. Have no idea where to look.

My truck just did the same thing this last weekend. It still has some warranty left. If I bring it into the dealer will they find anything or just send me home because there is no code to read?
