6.0L Power Stroke Engine and Drivetrain Discussion of the 6.0L Power Stroke diesel engine and drivetrain in the 2003-Up Super-Duties and Excursions. No gas engine discussion allowed except on transmissions and drivetrain that pertain to all models. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 6.0L Power Stroke engine.

It sounds as though you are trying to get this done as cheap as possible, but think of this- if you do any off-roading at all- since you are already paying for tear down and setup for your rear gears- I'd recommend some sort of positive locking differential since the stock limited slip units are junk. My '05 has 3.73's- and if I decide to go to the 4.10, there's a Detroilt Locker in my future.

It's not the price, because everyone around me is about the same, $1500-$1700 for both. Just trying to get some real life experiences from people that have done the change I'm looking at doing.

The only off-roading I do is when I pull my Toyhauler in the sand, launch my boat or waverunners from the beach, and go in the forest/backroads to hunt, which it (Excursion) does fine. When I want to thrash off-road I do it in my buggy, that way I can tow it home when it breaks. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
