Glow Plug Control Module

My check engine light came on about a week ago. I used my SCT to check what the problem was and after confirming the trouble code with my local diesel guy, he told me it was the Glow Plug Control Module. Ford's OEM replacement price was a little over $200 and O'relly's sells one for around $160. I'm trying to avoid the labor cost to swap them out by doing it myself, but I want to make sure I do it right.

The guy who does all the service on my truck showed me where it was and from what I can see it looks like a couple of connectors and some 10mm bolts I'd be working with. I'm wondering if this is all there is to it, or if I am overlooking something?

I'm also wondering if it matters if I buy the cheaper one from O'really's or if it needs to be from Ford?

The truck still starts and runs fine I'm just sick of having my check engine light on all the time and want to get this fixed before it gets really cold and starts giving me problems

Thanks for the input! Where would you recommend I get the part? OEM from Ford or the cheaper one from a local auto supply place?

Dont have any experience with aftermarket modules.....ask about warranties on both and make your best decision....

Thanks for all the help! I ended up getting the new part from my father-in-law who works at a Ford dealership. He was able to get his employee pricing and I only paid $120.00!! Removing the intercooler tube made the job a whole lot easier. The bottom bolt is kind of a pain to get too and I only had to remove the intercooler tube at the top to get it out of the way. If anyone wants some more info on this I'd be happy to help! Thanks again
