yes, it does lope after cold start. And Ford mechanic told me one injector was starting to act up but only when cold and was fine when warm, so not to worry about it right now.
it runs rough cold and once warm, it starts easy and runs better.
oops, forgot to answer you...I have not checked fuel pressure and don't have the specialty tools to do that.
You probably have injector stiction. When the oil cools, it thickens. Thicker oil plus some contaminants are too much for the spool valves in the injectors to overcome. As the oil warms up, it thins out and the spool valves operate normally.
You could try a product called Rev-X. It'll help clean out some of the junk in the spool valves. Switching to a synthetic 5W40 will help some also. But more than likely, you're eventually looking at some new injectors.
I'm due for an oil change. I was going to switch to 10-30 like many say I should do. Is 5-40 synthetic both thinner for cold start & thicker for heat? I might also give Rev-X a shot. Just not sure which of these many products actually do what they claim they do.
have you ever tried Rev-X, as suggested by dieselmac?
Over the years I have tried several different friction modifier products like Slick 50, BiTron, PTFE resin, etc... They were on different vehicles. I can't say I noticed all of the claims they made. My friend says they're all snake oils.
I want to believe it will work, but I dunno. I will definitely try the 5-40 synthetic.

No I have never tried it, I have used Amsoil 5w40 Syn with a by-pass right from the get-go and change oil at 5k. My 6.0 about 99% of the time pulls my 5er so when it is running it is working it's not a grocery getter. I buy the best oil I can the way I look at is (you pay to play)

I know this post is a little old, but wanted to give my 2 cents. tried rev X last winter helped stiction a little, but was still there. This september tried archoil. When stiction showed up at about 55 degrees. Didnt get fast results but now with a couple thousand miles its been as low as 27 degrees and the stiction hasnt showed back up.Hope this might help someone out and save the price of injectors or at least delay it till to a more convient time.

My king ranch had the same problem a couple years ago and it was the injectors. I changed the oil with synthetic 5w40 instead of 15w40 and added Rev-x. It started perfect every time and got rid of the lope. The rev-x is a little pricey, but nothing compared to eight injectors

Dang it. I went with the 10w-40 Rotella T5 synthetic since I couldn't find the darn 5w-40 T6 anywhere in town. Truck still lopes at cold starts below 30 degrees but it doesn't lope as bad and smooths out a lot quicker. Added the RevX yesterday and am headed on a 20 hour road trip today to go home. We'll see how she does.
