Re: Help with buy back

Try a search on this subject I think you will find quite more information than I may give you!

In my situation '04 being bought back, I kept all records of every service that was done to this vehicle, problems started at 235 miles within the first week I owned it!

DSB Process...Called for the DSB application booklet, filled it out. Also included all records of repairs, conversations with the service writer at the dealership, OASIS printout and a polite summary of what my thoughts were towards this truck. About a week later I was contacted by phone and by mail that they had received the DSB application. A few days after that I was notified of the DSB hearing date...March 8th...on Feb. 22 I was offered a buyback or replacement.

Ford needed the following items to complete the buyback process:
-Copy of registration of title
-Sales agreement
-ALL receipts for all aftermarket add-ons
-Finance contract

Ford will deduct $0.10/mile for the mileage on the vehicle at time when I turn the vehicle over to them. I have been quite pleased with the way they have treated me since the buyback process has begun.

Some of the problems I was having were: oil leaks, lack of power warm or cold, trans shift into neutral whenever it felt like it needed a break and power window switches not working.

I have a '05 on hold at the local dealership, as soon as I get the check I can hop in a new ride, hopefully the bugs are worked out on these!

If you have any other questions email me and I will be glad to help!

Re: Help with buy back

best thing i did was buy a 15 dollar tape recorder and tape all my conversations. but you must get thier permission on tape first. then they know when they lie to you that you have proof . its great to see them sqirm. tell them your attorney said you must record all conversations for lawsuit. thier attitude will change. i dint have to go threw dsb ford reaquired my truck sticker for sticker no milage charge. ask alot of ? on tape you know they dont want to answer. i dont like to be this kind of person but if ford is going to play harball and not do the right thing. you need to protect your 40k plus investment. good luck

In Ohio and several other states the law only requires that one person in the conversation (You) know that it is being recorded. You can do it covertly in several states. Check your own state law or ask any cop.

Re: Help with buy back

your right depends on which state you live in. but i thought it helped my cause when rep dealer and myself were speaking that i had a tape recorder in my hand for my attorney. lets them know you mean business.when they would lie i would call them on it . i even recorded my talks with customer service. when they wouldnt answer the ? i would just ask over and over agian. thier job is to make to you give up. when you say screw it ill just live with that oil leak they win. this is not a personal attack on ford you just have to defend yourself. alot of companys and people will screw you if you let them. used to be if you gave someone your word it meant something. now i feel much better

Re: Help with buy back

My situation was huge amount of problems lots of time in the shop.

Dealer was no help and very nasty. Told me to get a lawyer when I simply asked for my work orders. My first 3 visits they didn't give me any.

Filed for DSB through Ford. Ford informed me they don't do DSB in NY.

Filed with attorney generals office. Paid $250 filing fee if my case was excepted to go forward.

It was and I filed to get my money back.

Rep. called (even though I had be trying for months) on the day of the hearing, offered me a new truck instead of money if I wouldn't go through the lemon law hearing.

Deal is sticker price to sticker price. I pay anything additional in sticker and reg fees.
No mileage charge.

I was allowed to order and didn't have to take a 2004 off the lot.

Too extensive to list.

Days in shop so far 71 and counting as they still have it.

34K miles.

After spending a month in the shop and having it back only 2 weeks, it's back in the shop. Ford Customer service refused to send me a DSB Package. Told me the info is in the back of manual. Well truck is in shop and I don't have the info can you give it to me? No, it's in the manual.

Re: Help with buy back

I submited a DSB on my 04 F350 for going in for repair 5 times for the check engine light and drivability issues. The way it works in California is:

1 You submit the DSB paperwork.
2 DSB sends a letter explaning the process, requests copies of registration, sales sheet, and finacing paperwork. Hearing is 40 days from letter.
3 Ford Rep will contact you to try to work it out.
4 Independant mediater will contact you and Ford to try to reach agreement.
5 If non of the above work your DSB hearing will take place.
6 If you don't like DSB result you can then get a lawyer and go the Lemon Law route.

How my case went:
Submitted DSB along with service prinouts and a letter explaing my concerns. Week or so later got the letter from DSB and was also contacted on the same day by Ford's Area Rep. Since I already had an extended warranty he offered to make 2 payments for me. He also hinted that the fact I actually used my truck in 4 wheel might have contributed to my problems. I told him to pound sand. Submited documents requested to DSB.

Then mediator called.
He got my info and repair history
Concerns...Totally unsatifactory that the $46K truck had been in for repair so many times. I live in a remote area (25 miles to closest Ford dealer, 100 miles to shop anywhere but Walmart), also travel into Baja and other remote locations to camp and I no longer had confidence that the vehicle would reliably get me or my wife where we needed to go. Total lack of concern from dealer about problems.
Result I wanted..New truck.

He then contacted Ford. Two days later he called back to say Ford wanted to buy back my truck and that I would have to pay a milage charge to the first repair (computed according to CA's Lemon Law). Ford will be sending me a letter explaining the process in a week or two. I presume that like others on here I will also have to pay differance in MSRPs.

Since I agreed to the offer he also filed a letter with the DSB to drop my case.
