Help Diagnose issue 05 f350 6.0

So, recently, i'd say within the last month, everytime we go to drive truck, we have to wait for it to warm all the way up. If we don't, we get alot of black smoke and a lot of shuddering/bucking from the engine. If i am able toget it above 2000 rpm's it seems to run okay, but, drops down to below 1000 and the bucking starts again. Goes away when it is fully warmed up.

I have thought about the computer flash to fix the issue with the fuel not being preheated prior to being used. Not sure that would fix issue.

Thoughts???

ryan

I would say get the Inductive heat flash. I don't recall getting the black smoke but the other issues you mentioned are gone now. While you are there they will check to see if there are any codes stored.

You need TSB# 07-05-04 performed, injector heat induction flash. If it still runs rough when cold after that you probably have one or more sticking fuel injectors.

So, to do a follow up on this issue.

Wife got tired of it, made an appointment. Took it in. Here is the list of what they did:
Replaced all Injectors.
Cleaned out the fuel lines.
Replaced FCIM
Replaced Fuel Filters
Replaced Fuel pump because it was at 40lbs pressure, now its at 50lbs.

Starts up and runs beautifully, but gas milage sucks now. Hopefully this will go better as the injectors get broke in.

This is why we should all think about getting gauges. Running your truck at low pressure can cause injector problems. Pretty expensive when you are out of warranty.

yeah
If i'd known they were running low, i probably would have gotten it looked at sooner.
I'm thinking of getting one of those outlook monitors or something that will have all the read outs on it.

Thankfully it was all done under warranty, if i'd have to have paid the $1500 i would have crapped my pants.

Check your fuel pressure, thats all i'm saying.
