Help with the FORD 6.0 Diesel

I have a 2003 6.0 Liter. The other day i got in it ann tried to start it up. The starter was dragging like the batterys were low. So i plugged it in and let it charge all day Saturday and Saturday night. I got in it Sunday and it was doing the same thing. So i took the batterys out and had them tested. They were perfect. So i took the starter off and had it tested, it was also perfect. I am at a loss for words here.. Can anyone help?

High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP) problem. The injectors need oil pressure, without it, they won't fire and it won't start.

Would that create a drag on the starter?

How do the battery cables look?

All of the connections from the Batteries to the starter are in good shape with no corrosion on them.

I just cant figure out what would make it drag like this..It sounds just like the batteries are low..

Mine sounded like that.. But that could have been because they actually were dieing in my attempts to start it soo many times... Was the Low pressure Oil Regulator... mines an 05'... had to take it to dealer to get it fixed...

How about Codes?

look at coolant level, egr cooler failing can cause water to get to cylinders and the starter will not have an easy go of it to turn over an engine with coolant in cylinders assuming the battery cables and other things already mentioned have been verified as good.

well it had to have run at some point in its life... right?

So it should have the codes stored... just a place to start....

I was thinking the injectors may have filled up a cylinder with diesel fuel that is why I mentioned checking the oil.

Well yesterday i changed the starter and it was still dragging so i called a as buddy over with his code reader. The computer was not throwing out any codes so i had him try to start it while i was watching the motor. Turns out the AC compressor was locked up and the belt is having to pull across a pully that is not moving. Which will not turn fast enough to ignite the engine.

That is a whole lot better than a hydrolocked engine!
