I have a 2005 F250 4X4 with the 6.0 in it. It has 211,000 miles on it and has never given me any issues until now. I filled it up with fuel. It started right after the fill up. Then we went across the parking lot to kroger and shut the truck off. When we came out it would crank but not start. I had it towed back to the house. I changed both the fuel filters . I used advanced filters( normally use fords but my dealer was out of stock) The truck did not want to start. I ran the batterys down trying to get it to start. After I charged the batterys back up. I unplugged the high pressure oil sensor .It cranked for 30 seconds then finally started. After that the truck built oil pressure and would start just fine.( I don't know if this has anything to do with my issue but it happened right before)
Now the new issue...the truck runs fine 85% of the time...the rest of the time it has issues. It will start up just fine...then we go to the store and when we come back out the truck does not want to start...if I let it sit there for a spell it will start.
Also I will be driving down the road and the truck will just die with no warning and then is hard to restart. It seems to have a rough idle and almost dies before I start having issues. I don't know if I should change the filters again with the FORD filters?
It is not throwing any codes and Ford had it for 2 days and found nothing...they gave me no ideas nothing to change...just nothing. "except then I picked it up and the mechanic said ...have you ever had trouble starting it...I said...umm that what it is in here for?"HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!!
It seems to be getting worse...I need my truck to run but I don't wanna just throw money at it.
The truck has had a oil change every 3000 miles...the oil does not even look dirty when I have it changed...I just had the injectors replaced at 200,000 miles due to hard to start issues(completed by Ford) It runs great...till it dies.
Grab a set of gauges (Scangauge2 or Edge Insight) Then disconnect both batts and fully charge and LOAD test them and the alternator. Then post the Cold cranking FICM voltages and the running @ 2100 rpm voltage. Then check the gauge for icp/ipr oil pressure and post the icp and ipr voltages as well. May well be snap to connect fitting as was posted by fireguy. Check/drain the fuel module for water? Get the oem filters back on there. Gauges will keep you FROM throwing money at it.

Thanks! I will buy a scanguage2. I have a scanner but not either of those
Hold up, If you have a scanner no need to buy either of those cause they are just monitors not scanners. That said what kind of scanner? does it read live data, do selftests?
On live data look at FICM voltages, input and out put. Look for ICP [min 500 psi] IPR%
Sync pcm & Ficm let us know the values. Read the DTC codes and eport if any.
I have the $100 one from advanced (actron auto scanner OBD II code reader)It says on the web site that it reads sensors and does live engine data. ..I also have the sct tuner for my saleen...but I'm not sure if it will read that truck...it does live data logging...I will have to check both.
I will check it out when I get home from work today. Thanks for all the help!...I am still open for more ideas!

Sorry that is just a code reader doesn't do live data. In your case a Scangauge II may do ya better. The Actrons arent much of a scanner and the scangauge while not a scanner will give you more usefull info in a easier to read and use format.
If ya want a really good scanner at a decent price about $300.00 check out the Auto Enginuity. You will need the Ford enhanced package to view diesel info. It's made to work on a laptop computer. For the price it is about as good as Fords own IDS software which runs about $2000.00

Any help would be greatly apprechiated!!!!
I would suspect high pressure oil leak from what you describe. As stated, your scan tool leaves alot to be desired, you need a good scan tool that will retrieve enhanced codes. Chances are, you have codes set, but can't retrieve them with your equipment. With a good scan tool, monitor icp and ipr to verifiy if it is a high pressure oil concern. If ipr is maxed at 85% and your not reaching 500 psi, it is a high pressure oil concern. If this is the case, you will need to perform air test on high pressure oil system to verify if ipr is operating, and to check for air leaks if ipr is operating.
Dannyboy950: I have been looking into getting a good scanner and all of the posts that I read say that the Ford IDS system is $2-3k? I am finding a lot of these (link below for $300-400. What is the difference between the $2000 Ford IDS and the $400 Ford IDS VCM? Thanks Ford VCM IDS, VCM V79 JLR V130 – Professional Diagnostic Tools
