Hesitating at takeoff

I have a 2006 F350 with 158,000 miles, that I bought recently. When I takeoff from a stop it will hesitate like it's about to stall, but then will pickup and go like it should. This is far more exaggerated than turbo lag. It feels like a gas engine that has a dead spark plug that won't fire until it gets moving. It doesn't seem to do it if I'm going over 30 mph and accelerate. It does seem to occasionally have a miss when at driving speed but that is very rare, but that could just be parinoia at this point. It only blows lite amounts white smoke on acceleration when it's cold. At idle it is very smooth and starts pretty good even at around 30*F. I'm about to take it to the dealer to have it checked but would like to have some input for you guys, just to see what I might be in for.

One thing I do have a faulty EGR valve that I tried to clean but I believe it was too far gone. I cleaned the port real well and the valve but I'm still getting the code (P0404 & P0405). I'll be replaceing it when I get a few minutes next week.

I have an 04 and had the same problem, replaced turbo, turbo actuator, egr valve , mass air sensor, barometric sensor and finally ebp sensor and that did the trick, all were replaced in that order one at a time , I would drive for about a week and go to the next one , truck really feels strong now , good luck ,Larry

Thanks a bunch, The EBP has already been replaced and I will replace the EGR this week before I go the the Dealer. I still want to go to have them check it throughly just to see if they notice anything else. I have the funds to get it in top shape now and want to make sure it is.

Swapped the EGR valve and that fixed the hesitation. Now all I need to do is get a good service and checkup, and hit the road.
