i think it is luck of the draw with some trucks... i have tried every possible scenario, and only once did my HFCM stop draining. first, make sure that you are pretty close to empty. second, park with the nose of your truck parked slightly downhill. third, pop the fuel cap. fourth, cross your fingers.
i changed mine this past weekend and i drained the HFCM but it would not stop running. replaced the plug, fired up the truck and ran it for a few seconds. popped off the fuel cap - still kept draining. let it sit overnight, and tried again in the morning. HFCM finally stopped draining, so i started to loosen the cap. once the seal was broken, fuel began to drip again. done this drill many times, so had the filter and some paper towels right next to me, replaced the filter, grabbed a garden hose and washed down the driveway...
