Hose blew off the turbo

Well, to my great frustration, the intercooler tube blew off the turbo in a large bang. I was going up a steep hill pulling my 5th wheel trailer about 13,000 lbs or so. It scared the crap out of me. I thought that I had blown a tire or something. Turned out that I blew the hose off.

The bad part is I just had the turbo pipe and blue thing replaced do to oil spray that was happening. It blew off 8 times on the way home. Each time I made it fewer miles before it blew.

I live by the KTP truck plant. The storage unit where I park my trailer is across the road from KTP. The hose blew one last time in front of KTP. My mood was not happy given problems with the other truck and now this one. I felt a very strong need to pull in and toss them the keys. But given it was sunday afternoon, I figured that plan would not work.

The dealer is going to fix it, but I have the feeling I will be sitting on the side of the road somewhere coming up. Does anyone have a good suggestion as to a fix for this problem? Thanks Anthony

Re: Hose blew off the turbo

Clean the tubing off really well, and install some type of CCV bypass. The oil coating is what is causing it to blow off.

Re: Hose blew off the turbo

Bear in mind that the blue boot fits only one way. It is possible for someone to unwittingly install it improperly..... though there is no excuse for it.

Clamps should be torqued to 9 ft lbs (IIRC)... too loose and they separate.... too tight and the hose gets cut.
