I just got a call from ford and they informed me they I have a blown head gasket. They are going to cover it under warrenty so I won't be out of pocket on that part. They are willing to put in ARP head studs for a cost of 410-790 depending on how much longer extra the labor is to do the swap out. My question is the new and improved ford head bolts are they alot better than the original ones? How much better is the head studs compared to the new bolts. I'd rather do this one time under warrenty than again later on down the road. Also who is running the best price on the ARP studs right now? I'll need them in hand by wednesday am. Thanks

Just make sure the heads are checked for straightness and the tech installs the studs correctly. If either of these two go wrong you will have problems again.
Get the ARP instructions, have the service manager give you a FIRM price on labor. They are going to try to make a few bucks off you since they got to install new head bolts anyway.

Do the studs. Don't waste your own time and money replacing them again later on.

You promote that article a lot, which is good, but there is a s***load more information on here than in that article, and they only cover the most common stuff, and they don't even have some of the affected years right with some of the problems. AND, a lot of it is contradictory to what people experience on this forum. It also doesn't cover the changes in the flashes that can potentially resolve some problems.
I think its a good quick reference, but its hardly a fix all for the 6.0L.
apparently the 6.0 blows headgaskets like our government blows our money!
And just like our government they are solving the problem the wrong way since they don't understand the fault.
There are SEVERAL reasons for puking some directly related to HGs others are quite simple to fix without studs. Line the pockets of the dealers if you want I choose to read all the facts, apply what seems logical for my problem and usually I'm right on target with my solution.
My Job2 '06 blew plenty of coolant after racing a Dodge (I did win!) so I thought I was in need of studs. I found several good posts and fixed my puking without needing to go in for studs.

dealer told me the same thing. they wont install studs for me but the service manager told me that they have updated head bolts they are going to use, and they havent had any problems so far. is he full of sh#t?

Yes, he is! Tell him to get you the part numbers for the updated bolts so you can compare to the part numbers for the old bolts. I think he will back-peddle.
I lost an egr cooler at 25k on my 04 never had issues didn't know untill i saw weeping from drivers side head. Took the truck in fixed the oil and egr cooler, did not fix head gaskets took the truck back pulled a trailer had coolant all over went back to dealership took both heads off both gaskets were gone and heads were both replaced with new. My dealer would not use ARP's, when i got the truck back i fixed the egr cooler for good. Have 70k on it now run a hot custom sct tune have not had an issue i don't beat the crap out of my truck but i do use it. I have seen 40-42#'s of boost a couple times ( try not to get it that high, and keep my foot out of it when it starts climbing into the mid 30's) When i had the intake off i cleaned the crap out of it also pulled the turbo apart to clean it and it was actually pretty nice looking. I know the general opinion is go with arp's but if you pop a cooler again your going to have issues somewhere down the line, something else must go. I would rather a gasket then to hydrolock and bend a rod?
