Updated has a relief cut into the housing to prevent the vanes from seizing/rusting to the housing. The up dated turbo part number is 3C3Z-6K683-BARM. Old turbo number ends in AARM.
None, on either, 48,500 on the 05 and 23,300 on the 06!!

36K none.
After a few miles remove the intake at the turbo and see how much oil residue is caked on the vains.
Last July,05 with 23K I was R&R the turbo-intercooler tube and hoses with new one`s and found approx. 4 oz of oil in the tube when removing it.
After that fix I then removed the intake to see if oil was also in the intake and turbo and found the vains caked in oil residue.
I clean it up everything as much as I could and then did a CV mod.
I had my truck in for a #4 injector on May 19,06 and when the tech had the intake off everything was still clean.
And no more oil soaked turbo-intercooler hoses or blowing off of the blue hoses.
My thoughts are some engines might have a little more blow-by than others which those could be more of a problem.
My Ford tech thinks its just bad turbos(if that is the case then the turbo mfg production is at about a 30% failure rate),he also says it could very well be oil caking up in the turbo causing failures.

Thanks red03..
Now we know what 'updated' means.
BTW , thefirst turbo was replaced after many trips back to the dealer, and I assume their last resort.
Worked for a while ,6 months or so then back to the same thing.
Next replacement was easy: "it fixed it last time, we'll just put in another". It's not my call.
Same this time. No fighting.
This is a work truck, all I want is for it to work.
Great dealer by the way.
Lets see....
At 92K I swapped the stocker for a modifeid unit.
I blew that up after 4K miles spinning it to 55 PSI. LOL
I put an identicle one on it that's going just fine now...111K on the clock now
About to replace that one with a Gerrett GT42R non-vgt unit in my quest for 600 rwhp on #2 only.
So...under warranty....zero
Just for fun ....2 going on 3.
Best truck I've ever had...and it trapped 110.35 mph last Friday.
