International Filter Part Numbers??

Yesterday I went to my local International dealer to buy filters for my next service(2006 6.0L). They did not seem fimiliar with the correct part numbers. They sold me 1843162C91 and 1840752C91(one oil and one fuel, not in front of me now so I am not sure wich was wich).

They said that they did not know what filter is used for the fram mounted fuel filter.

Another post that I found here for a fuel filter listed the part number as being 1847170C92.

Did I get the wrong filter?? Is 1847170C92 for the lower filter??

Thanks for any help.

Re: International Filter Part Numbers??

The fuel filter is a "kit". It comes with the upper engine mounted(secondary) element, the lower frame mounted(primary) element, and the O rings. If you got a heavy steel encased filter, it's the wrong one. You may have to tell them (sometimes it helps, some times it makes the confusion worse) that you want filters for the VT 365, which is the International name/version of the 6.0 Sometimes they try to sell me filters for the T444 (7.3L PSD). Part of the problem is it seems that International's parts system is centered around VIN's, and of course a Ford VIN doesn't help. I'll go round up my notes to see what part number I think I get. Back in a minute.

These are the numbers I think I get.

Fuel filter 1847170C92
Oil filter 1840752C91

Back again.
1843162C91 is a filter for the 7.3

Go to wixfilters.com. Good cross reference, pictures, fitment etc...

You have to ask for fuel filters for the VT 275, NOT THE VT 365. Ford uses the same filters as the International VT 275. No wonder you are confusing the International parts guy.

Re: International Filter Part Numbers??

International Filter Part Numbers...

Fuel Filter Kit... This is for a VT275 (4.5L) but fits 6.0L PSD, contains 2 filters. NOTE updated part number!

NEW IH #1847170C93

OLD IH #1847170C92

Oil Filter Kit... This is for a VT365, same as 6.0L PSD.

IH #1840752C91

NOTE on oil filters. Oil filters from IH, Motorcraft and FRAM are all the same filter manufactured by Racor just in different packaging. Walmart carrys both the FRAM and the Motorcraft oil filters and is sometimes cheaper than the IH dealer.

Also as a second note on oil filters. PepBoys is currently running a 2 for $7.00 special on FRAM oil filters. The coupon is available in the local store paper as well from the PepBoys website. Expires 12/30/06. Many have been able to buy these $20.00 filters for $3.50! The correct FRAM part number is CH9549.

The fuel filter you got (IH #1843162C91) is for the VT365 (6.0L) and the T444E (7.3L), both Ford PSD and IH versions). Only 1 filter. Ford uses the VT275 (4.5L) fuel filters for its version of the 6.0L PSD. Has 2 filters.

Is there any difference between NEW IH #1847170C93 and OLD IH #1847170C92? I just picked up the #92 today and plan on installing them tomorrow.

Re: International Filter Part Numbers??

Called the dealer, they told me there are no differences. The #93 is just the updated filter part #. Installed the filters yesterday with ease.
